OUR MISSION
Crooked Skies was created by Cole Serad as a means to connect the public with the incredible natural world around us. As a licensed falconer, we have seen the incredible impact falconry and raptors can have on people. No one looks at the wild raptors around us the same after a close up experience. Crooked Skies aims to be the bridge between falconry and the public! We legally conduct operations under a Washington State falconry license and a USFWS falconry school permit.

MEET THE TEAM
JUNDALLAH
Jundallah was raised and flown down in Georgia until this past July when she was rehomed and joined the team. A Harris’ hawk, Jundallah will actually mostly be a hunting and abatement bird, but you might see her from time to time if she can make it. She weighs 800 grams (almost 2 pounds)

This girlie is the youngest member of our team, born in late June of 2026. She is rather large for a barn owl, weighing 650 grams (1 and a half pounds) Being a youngster, she loves running around, chittering, and triangulating new sounds with that incredible hearing of hers!
TAWNY
Tawny is a three month old red-tailed hawk bred out of Las Vegas. Born to dark morph parents, she is the only bird in the clutch that came out light colored. An absolute sweetheart, Tawny loves hanging out with people. She weighs 1200 grams (3 lbs)! The largest of our hawks!
SKEETER
Skeeter is an American Kestrel raised out of Arizona. He is the youngest of our birds, at only about a month and a half. He weighs 100 grams ( 1/4 lb) and is an imprint, meaning he thinks of himself as a human more so than a raptor!
COLE SERAD
I am a licensed falconer, educator, and raptor-based abatement worker in northwest Washington. At the age of twelve, I fell in love with birdwatching and raptors in particular. When I turned fourteen, I got licensed as a falconer and haven’t looked back since!
As a falconer, there is no greater privilege than getting to share my wonderful pastime with the public. I’m so very grateful to make a positive impact on the people who see the birds. Life is all about making your world a slightly better place.
Outside of falconry, I enjoy fly fishing, playing guitar, foraging, and chasing the skies, among many other things!

Not able to book an event but still want to support the work we do? Raising, caring, and owning raptors in general is not a cheap or easy endeavor. Each bird needs lots of attention and each bird needs to eat a lot of food (besides the kestrel 😀 )!
